Just posted a Purdue/Michigan Poll

I decided to get things started by picking a game that is expected to be a good game, according to the oddsmakers, and posted a poll on the right hand side of the page. Make your pick and post your comments/arguments about the game on this post.

I'll get the ball rolling by saying that I expect the Michigan Wolverines to come right out of the gates and blow the Boilermakers out. Last week was practically the first game of the season for Purdue. Up until their game against Ohio State, Purdue had faced a cast of nobodies. Despite their weak early season schedule, Purdue has still managed to give up nearly 390 yards per game and that is clearly unacceptable for a team that has played such a soft schedule.

The Wolverines aren't anything to write home about either, but they have won four straight and they are starting to put the smack down on inferior college football teams. I was very impressed by their win against Penn State and every Purdue victory pales in comparison to that Wolverine win. I like the Michigan Wolverines to stomp the Purdue Boilermakers by roughly 3 TDs.

Final Score - Michigan 38, Purdue 17

I love Michigan to death, but...I'm honestly worried about them against most of the teams they have left on their schedule. I don't really know how Purdue plays...the only game I've checked them out in at all was the one against OSU, and that was obviously going to be a loss since nobody is beating OSU this year, not even my precious Wolverines.

I have to disagree about what Michigan will come out and do or what they have come out and done since their losses. The past couple games, Michigan has had really slow starts in general. The one consistent I've noticed with Michigan (in all the seasons I've watched them) is if they don't score on their first drive, the game is nearly sure to be a loss for them. Even in these slow-start games, they've been putting points up on the first drive, so this is one of the things they need to be sure to do.

PSU could honestly have beaten Michigan if they had just gone after Hart. I don't think Michigan is playing too many more teams that are going to just let Hart go, but Purdue might be one of the few that does (I think Michigan will have serious problems with Illinois here, after watching how they shut down PJ Hill with Wisconsin).

If Purdue's defense really is as bad as you say, then I will take Michigan, but perhaps with a score that's a little more EMU-like. Michigan doesn't beat teams it should by as many points as it should, either. The only team they've blown out is Notre Dame, and...well. Duh.
